Medicine Cabinet Configurations

Surface-Mount Medicine Cabinets

Bathroom mirror cabinets mounted on the face of the wall. Compare cabinet projection, visible side finishes, door clearance and the fixing requirements for your wall construction.

Understand the projection into the room

Unlike a recessed cabinet, the storage body remains outside the wall. Check the overall projection, including the door and any handle, against the basin, tap and circulation space. A room elevation and side-view drawing are more useful than mirror width and height alone.

Specify the exposed sides and mounting arrangement

Side panels remain visible on many surface-mounted installations. Agree whether the specification calls for a matching finish or mirrored side panels, and confirm which components are included. The fixing positions and support requirements depend on the selected cabinet and wall construction; ask for the model-specific installation drawing.

Coordinate installation before ordering

The cabinet does not require a full recess for its body, but wall fixing and any required cable routing still need planning. Have the installer assess the substrate and suitable fixings. For lighted versions, establish the cable entry and service access. Do not assume one mounting kit suits every wall.
